  • I strongly recommend not to miss a visit to this museum which is really a gem. Inside it you lose track of time and you with passion and tenderness in what was Donizetti's life, of his art, the age in which he lived and the people that have been part of his life. We observe, we read, we listen, reflect. A real blast from the past and you exit the Museum enriched. The only flaw is the polar temperature. Beautiful!

  • small musical history museum commemorating Gaetano Donizetti, XIX century composer of opera and other music site in a couple of rooms of of an historic palace sited the high town of Bergamo  more »
  • Although the Museum is small, you may want to look into it to find out interesting facts about the Donizetti. We were lucky enough to hit just on tour with a guide in Italian, but in the middle of the display cases are also available audio guides (certainly in English). I recommend on a rainy day.

  • Our dream came true as we had the chance to visit this exotic 19th century atmosphere place where our beloved Gaetano spent his last days. It was Saturday 24th June afternoon 3:pm with music from the genius Master work (Don Pasquale) filling the air. More photos will be uploaded soon including images from Bergamo the home town of the composer. Hanna & Genevieve Astephan.
  • I had the opportunity to visit it during a theme route between points of Donizetti in Citta ' Alta: the native house in Borgo Canale, apartment Angelini, Palazzo Scotti and of course Santa Maria Maggiore. The Donizetti Museum is housed in the Domus Majors than mine, the secular Congregation still owns the Basilica and its surroundings. The Palace is lavish and the rooms are richly decorated. The set up is treated with great care, doing instinctively thrill to the life of the great composer bergamasco and those who came into contact. A visit to an expert.

  • The Donizetti Museum of Bergamo is beautiful and has several pictures and objects that depict or were possieduti by Donizetti. The adjoining library has plenty of scores of the composer. Originally this building was the seat of the Conservatory.
