  • Gaetano Donizetti was born in Bergamo, so there are many devoted to him as this monument. The monument is good: the massive sculpture and fountain at the bottom, there are evening illumination. Isn't that the music is not enough)

  • In the lower part of Bergamo, if you go to the funicular station hand right and close to the theatre is located, this monument of the teacher Gaetano Donizetti.

  • To be one of the greatest exponents of Italian music is really undervalued: the birthplace (city high) is often closed and the monument dedicated to him is known (when known) more for the Swans swimming in the tiny body of water that surrounds it to the sculpture itself. Yet the marble monument is located in the Centre of Bergamo, next to the theatre named after the musician himself, on Sentierone which is considered the ultimate walk of the lower town. The monument dates back to the late 19th century and represents the composer who, seated, listens in Rapture the music coming from the zither played by a muse. The local humidity and pigeon droppings are the major cause of degradation of the monument, which therefore requires frequent maintenance and cleaning. If you are in the area, guests can admire the monument sitting in the shade while eating an ice cream, but I would not rate it among the monuments not to be missed in Bergamo.
