  • Located in the Piazza Vecchia, in the heart of the Città alta, this magnificent fountain was built in 1780, being given to the town by its Mayor, Alvise Contarini; in 1858 it was subjected to radical reform, which greatly modified their original characteristics. Octagonal in shape, it is made of white marble from the quarry of Zandobbio, which lies about 20 kilometers. It is surrounded by two Sphinxes whose mouth wells water, as well as other figures, depicting snakes and Lions. Over a period of about 30 years was displaced from this place, being replaced by a statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi, being restored at the beginning of the 20th century to its original location. Although once fulfilled an important function as a water reservoir, now its purpose is purely aesthetic.

  • It is a source which is located in the Centre of Piazza Vecchia, the Bell Tower of the upper city of Bergamo. It's nice to see the water sources. It is the Centre of the square which is worth a visit for the wide variety of attractions.
