  • In a stop in Berceto I was lucky enough to visit this monument, simple, austere, rich in works of art inside. Council who missed passing

  • Along the via Francigena, the Cathedral was built as a monastery church, which Liutprand, King of the Lombards, founded in 719 at the Apennine pass of Monte Bardone, main link between Emilia and Tuscany and which was added to the numerous places of worship that they met along the Pilgrim path frequented. The Cathedral of St. Moderanno, or Berceto Cathedral is very well preserved and has a strict three naves with an apse; It is a Romanesque church of outstanding beauty and historical value, rich in works of art with magnificent decorations on the front door and of particular importance, in the secondary portal, the bezel with the scene of the adoration of the Magi (dated 1198) and figures of the Apostles Peter and Paul, whose tombs in Rome were the destination of pilgrims traveling along the via Francigena; also interesting is the adjacent Museum.

  • Maybe go there specifically is a little inconvenient, but if you're passing is certainly worth a visit, as are all the historical center.
