The cloister of the Lombards is perhaps one of the most beautiful architecture and sculptural Italy especially. You admire the sculptures of the capitals, really beautiful, original and very well preserved. The Museum then with its two floors is awesome collection of archaeological finds along with a decent picture gallery. Nice layout of the Roman post-industrial-style section. Not to be missed!

You can't go to Benevento and not visit the Church of Santa Sofia with its cloister and the adjacent historical Museum, historical remains of the fascinating history of the city of Benevento precious. Well maintained, nice, a quantity of finds that perhaps deserve more space and emphasis, unfortunately visited without a passionate guide that might make it more mighty, but still helps the technology, with the possibility to download an app that thanks to geolocation and Bluetooth connection will accompany you on the tour route (instructions on site).

  • I love the sweet female creatures called witches, strix stupid males or assumed. We summarize the history of witches of Benevento. In the fourth century BC the ancient settlers Shores of Magna Greece transplanted orgiastic worship of Cybele in Sannio. Then the saga – known as early as the 13th century – Italy and quickly spread to Europe in 1600, when in Benevento, true place of origin of the tradition, there was intense on it learned disputes. The belief of the existence of witches, it merged with the echoes of the mysterious orgiastic rites of the Longobards in Benevento, which had been the capital of their vast southern Duchy. In that distant century VII, nostalgically faithful to national traditions, the new happy land which had welcomed and that then had to absorb them with their conversion to Catholicism, and by joining the surviving Roman civilization, they practiced the cult of Wothan, the father of the gods. The sweet witches should be loved and respected, if ever you can to meet them. I say this from experience.
