  • Sometimes I like to take a ride in the city of witches ... even x sample the famous liqueur that produce here in the area ... delicious. the Center is a real charmer, with a course far and wide, where you can spend some time strolling, and admiring historical buildings. a city full of life, very quiet, which is visited. recommend that you visit the amphitheatre and the arc, captive.

  • This is one of the two castles of Benevento, said Rocca dei Rettori, because here lived the rectors of the city. Benevento, very few in Italy know this, was the oldest province d, Italy, in fact in 1027 passed by the Lombards to the Church and remained there until 1860 when it was annexed to the Italian Kingdom. The fortress houses the Museo del Sannio. Her birth is estimated around the 4th century BC by the Samnites, the city was the capital of the Sannio, the proud people, proud and loyal which forced the Romans after they defeated to pass, bowing his head, beneath the gallows tree. The fortress was the core of power, the Lombards constructed the typical tower and remained so until the 15th century. Thus became the Papal Palace of the Governors. You can admire the Lion Monument commissioned by Pope Urban VIII in memory of the ancient Samnite people watch. There's no shortage of prisons, it was customary in Europe that the castles they had and didn't miss one, Benevento among the most illustrious were Charles of Artus who killed the husband of the Queen of Naples, Charles I of Hungary and Queen Giovanna I just had him locked up in a lot of skin and dump her body in the terrible secret , was the 1345. Other guest, not a prisoner, was the host, was Pope Urban VI, who stayed there in 1385 following riots in Nocera. Then other guest was Ambrose, Abbot of Saint Sophia, incarcerated and then made free by Ladislaus I of Anjou, France. Although the city under the Holy See, with borders and border guards with the Kingdom of Naples, the reports, confrontational, that's why never ceased from Naples Queen sent "abroad" the poor of Artus, the confined and jailed even in death. In this castle you have entered European history, indeed the world. Go there and find you the museum garden furnishings. On the South side, alongside the walls of the fortress be sure to take a look at the Forum of Benevento, the Court at the time of Rome, with what's left of it, the area and the beautiful antique colonnades. This city is totally underrated, pay the price of being at a latitude that does not like. Travelers who can be defined as such, will approach without bias and in a constructive manner and not controversy, a blade of grass does not detract from the greatness and importance of a monument. Stop in for lunch in town we eat very well.
