  • "Nothing in Italy's oldest of Benevento" so declared Edward Hutton novelist of the 19th century. The city with its open-air monuments fall in tourists at every step. Corso Dante in corso Garibaldi, in addition to the eighteenth-century palaces, passing through the various squares and the streets of path you can admire: the Cathedral, the Archbishop's library, the Rocca dei Rettori, the Roman amphitheatre, the arches of Trajan (first for its magnificence, but not first for "antiquity"), the Arco del Sacramento, brings the entire historic district, port Arsa Rufina del Triggio Lombard wall (present everywhere), the Abbey (now Church) of Santa Sofia (UNESCO) and its cloister, the Church of San Bartolomeo, the ox Apis, the Temple of ISIS (now Church of our Lady of grace). Council also three museums: 1) "historic" Sannio Museum (where recently shifted the archaeological remains of the Temple of ISIS in it). 2) Museum of art "Arcos". 3) Museum of the Cathedral of Benevento. TripAdvisor asks me "when were you there?", I live in Benevento and are constantly visiting the city I love. Leaving aside any talk on the current state of certain monuments, but as such: "with the culture you don't eat."

  • Town of ancient origin very interesting to visit. In particular its old town full of historical memories of his past. To visit the monumental Cathedral and the square in front, Piazza Orsini with the fountain dedicated to Pope Orsini. Adjacent to the Cathedral you can admire the Archbishop's Palace and the remains of the basilica of St. Bartholomew was built in 1112. The central axis of the old town is the corso Garibaldi where many charming alleys. Much of the intricate topography of medieval narrow alleys on which overlook the old buildings is preserved in the neighborhood between Lombard Street walls Triggio chain Tower, Piazza Cardinal Pacca and the Duomo. And having a little time you can and should visit more.

  • Benevento has a history and an old town would envy in the world ... I before you start living in this city I didn't know it was so rich in monuments. On the course you can breathe the air of the past, especially during those hot summer evenings accompanied by soothing music and the yellow suffused of streetlamps. Too bad that tourism is not very developed in this beautiful medieval town historical traits.
