  • I think the exhibits change from time to time here, and when we visited, we saw a collection of very nice paintings in a contemporary/fantasy vein. This is usually not my "thing" but I really liked so...  more »
  • The beneventans are proud of Egyptian artefacts that are conserved in the town bell: indeed, it is not well known, but there was a temple of ISIS is very popular in Roman times and all the artifacts, the Obelisk of piazza Papiniano the statue of the ox Apis, to the various exhibits in the Museum Arcos, are autochthonous. For instance, the Egyptian Museum in Turin, the largest in the world after the one in Cairo, Egypt, while artifacts from preserved Benevento were found on site. For fans of this ancient civilizations visiting Benevento is therefore indispensable.

  • Born as contemporary art museum has hosted over the years several exhibitions. In my view to shoot whoever decided to set up a contemporary art museum in Benevento, a historic city that fails to give room to all historical artifacts thrown in an army the Superintendent and various offices, for whom the hell should follow the example of other cities and also offer contemporary art? Or meat or fish, if you want to make the one and the other one has to be a big city or a city with major tourism flows. Otherwise you risk throwing money. When I visited this museum I found empty without any visitor desolately. The only human presence were the attendants at the entrance two three people paid by us Beneventans to sit there staring into space. But he wasn't enough? PS the Museum was owned (not sure now) by a company controlled by the province of Benevento, which if I'm not mistaken ... closed for bankruptcy. ...
