i Giardini di Villa Melzi, Bellagio

4.5
A strip of gardens that line the lakeshore on the Bellagio peninsula, i Giardini di Villa Melzi is a manicured landscape that was once the playground of Francesco Melzi d'Eril, duke of Lodi and the vice president of the Italian Republic in the early 19th century. The Neoclassical villa and chapel set off the colors of the garden. A greenhouse, called the orangery, is home to a collection of artifacts from the Napoleonic period and other rare archaeological finds. On the other side of the grounds, bamboo surrounds a chapel to create a place quiet meditation. • We look at us like to gardens and then also likes to take pictures. In the September 2017, we were at the Lake and visited the garden. The garden is located directly on the Lake and therefore again offers a beautiful view. Very liked and the pond - there was already a properly autumnal mood. Here too - as we visited the other gardens - everything is very neat and tidy. For me, the high light of the Ginko tree - was so I have had so far have not seen a large. The price is right. We want to come back - but then when everything blooms - probably in may or so. I would so time +/-2 hours schedule.

  • If you are looking for a ultra-touristique city, with luxury shops and questionable souvenir sellers, and you make mine from 130 EUR errors of direction by car, Bellagio is made for you! We stayed two weeks at Lake Como and visited almost all sites of interest around the Lake. Bellagio is by far the less pleasant city of our stay. Villa Melzi has little interest because the main building cannot be visited - you will pay the entry for a ride in a nice Park and a room of archaeology. A tip: opt for Varenna which has far more charm, authenticity and sense of hospitality. Another beautiful site to see if you stay at Lake Como: by its history, its architecture and its location on a promontory Rocky on the Lake, villa Balbianello is a wonder.

  • Most unique garden I've ever scene. Hundreds of beautiful arrangement of different types of flaura. There are great art pieces and monuments as well inside the garden. Needless to say it's a must visit.
  • Romantic Villa Melzi looks over the lake and mountains near Bellagio. Unfortunately the Duches Maria Durazzo (1801-1822), never lived to see her husband’s creation, but her spirit of beauty permeates the grounds.
  • Gorgeous property and view, very relaxing atmosphere. Great for the family and people of all ages. The ticket is valid for a day. The mansion itself isn't particular interesting. If you are looking to learn about the flora in this botanical garden, not a ehole lot of information is readily available apart from names. Still recommended visit anyway. Check the opening times. I believe the garden is NOT open year-round.
  • Beautiful grounds. The gardens are very well kept. Nice views from the top of the grounds.
  • A nice place to Stroll the gardens but not much to discover. I like the Chapel, the gardens are not as comprehensive as villa balbianello or carlotta
