i Giardini di Villa Melzi, Bellagio

4.5
A strip of gardens that line the lakeshore on the Bellagio peninsula, i Giardini di Villa Melzi is a manicured landscape that was once the playground of Francesco Melzi d'Eril, duke of Lodi and the vice president of the Italian Republic in the early 19th century. The Neoclassical villa and chapel set off the colors of the garden. A greenhouse, called the orangery, is home to a collection of artifacts from the Napoleonic period and other rare archaeological finds. On the other side of the grounds, bamboo surrounds a chapel to create a place quiet meditation. • Filled with a lot of different plant species. Made use of the possibility to walk up the top view point in the garden... was an amazing experience. View from the garden throughout the area is wonderful. Took about 3 hours overall to walk around.. Highly recommended sight seeing!
  • Beautiful gardens. I was expecting something bigger but I guess there is not that much space but the whole area is lovely. Easy to go have a look around and then you can pop back into town for brunch and a glass of vino.
  • Really lovely gardens to stroll around with incredible views of the mountains and the lake. It is well kept, looks fantastic and has plenty of information on offer to learn about the various parts of the garden. You can easily kill an hour or two in here admiring the surroundings, and on a beautiful sunny day everything seems all the more beautiful. Fantastic place.
  • It is the most boring Park I have ever been to. Nothing special to see. It has nothing to do with a botanical garden. It's not worth 6 euros. It Was a waist of my time. Cheers
  • One of Italy's finest gardens, appealing to the mind and eye in equal measure. Enjoy the carefully designed and carefully controlled visual journey through formal terraces, avenues of plane trees, banks of azalea and rhododendron and a colourful Japanese garden. Don't miss the family chapel - a jewel of the sober neo-classical style. Entrance fee of 7 euros mean numbers are limited to those who are truly interested.
