I Giardini di Villa Melzi, Bellagio

Must see · Garden · Architectural Building
A strip of gardens that line the lakeshore on the Bellagio peninsula, I Giardini di Villa Melzi is a manicured landscape that was once the playground of Francesco Melzi d'Eril, duke of Lodi and the vice president of the Italian Republic in the early 19th century. The Neoclassical villa and chapel set off the colors of the garden. A greenhouse, called the orangery, is home to a collection of artifacts from the Napoleonic period and other rare archaeological finds. On the other side of the grounds, bamboo surrounds a chapel to create a place quiet meditation. • A little touch of old school Italy perched on the lake side. A stunning old Villa that takes you back to the days the villa was used regularly in a private capacity centuries ago. We enjoyed walking.....  more »
  • You can find a mix of flora from a variety of countries and continents. Amazing to see how some of them can grow in this area.  more »

  • Beautiful garden! We took many many pictures. A view places to sit and rest (no service). A good place to get some inspiration, peace and quiet before (or after) you set foot into the busy town of Bellagio.
  • nice park where spend your time. there are a lot of tropical plants and artificial lakes with water flowers. The parking could be difficult to find. The tiket costs 6,50€ for one day or 8€ for two consecutive days. Dogs are allowed at leash.
  • Beautiful garden looked after with care. Excellent map to identify plants although most had easily read labels. Loved the Japanese Maples around the pond. Must be magnificent in spring with azaleas and rhododendrons flowering.
  • Beautiful, if you are in Bellagio, try to go! There’s otherwise not much here though, either on Bellagio, or the town on the south end of this villa. Take a stroll on a nice day. Entrance is minimal, like 6Euro adult day pass.
  • Although it's not possible to get inside the villa, nevertheless this place is well worth a visit. The gardens extend along lake Como, just outside Bellagio (an easy walk). The photos with this review were taken on a dull day in May but the gardens were brilliant with colour and the trees and shrubs are impressive. The gardens are very well tended and I'd recommend spending at least a couple of hours to enjoy them
