  • The chimes of the Bell-Tower on the day before had made me curious, so I went the short climb from Lago di Maggiore early in the morning up to Piazza della Chiesa and met the pastor, which concluded just the chapel in honor of Saint John of the Baptist and followed him. The small church draws with its frescoes and your simplicity in spell. The way of the cross with his old frescoes fascinates the visitors by the light of the rising sun. Some murals urgently need a Restaurierung.Hier probably lacks the money. Further, I visited the main church, I saw a place of tranquility, a mother who gave birth to their child in the school and still a little prayer said, where to see so little yet in Germany? I am convinced that the deep faith preceding generations have created this beautiful mystical place. On time at 8:00 started the Bell game and completed a unique ride. My tip go up shortly before 8:00 h on the Piazza and be inspired. For me, it was a unique experience on the Lago di Maggiore.

  • Picturesque corner of Baveno Romanesque monumental complex of St Gervaso and Protaso which is worth a visit. A short walk from the beautiful lakeside promenade leads to a churchyard attended monumental staircase of granite. So in a few minutes you reach a small oasis of peace and tranquillity in the Centre of Baveno that houses the Church, the early Christian baptistery of St. John and a charming way of the cross built in about 1839 when it was moved to the cemetery. The Romanesque church which overlooks is a Pearl of architecture and its beautiful original façade from the 12th century. You can see the remains of two Roman inscriptions bulwarks. For lovers of archeology, strolling in the square adjoining the canonical, one can see two other tombstones of Roman origin. Although the buildings are of different ages the views that can be seen are really exciting! Not to be missed!
