  • sweet its isolated location on the edge of the road, and then when you're inside a wonder to observe the frescoes covering all the walls and then we enjoyed the beautiful passionate and knowledgeable explanation of Mr. Lino. I have to thank the volunteers who in a closed spared no effort to make us admire this masterpiece and we were just four. Thank you with all my heart that you have opened the door to this gioiello.una visit that alone is worth our wonderful trip in the langhe.

  • Back from lunch with friends we did stop to visit the chapel of San Fiorenzo. Very beautiful frescoes by Cage, they run all over the walls and depict the life of the martyr and other Saints. . Depictions of hell and Heaven and the frescoes in the presbytery are very interesting. All representations are illustrated and commented by dear Mrs Paola, rich in details and descriptions of the subjects

  • A few kilometers from the rich and famous of great wines of Langa, near Bastia Mondovì, lies between the green of the campaign the Church of San Fiorenzo, an authentic jewel of Gothic art. Built on the tomb of the Saint in the early 2nd millennium, as tangible evidence of a profound faith, handed down for generations, was first "the Pilgrim's Chapel" which overlooked one of the most important salt road and, through the image of the great Saint Christopher painted on the entrance, inviting passersby to stop, Bastia (1200) was a private Villa di Mondovì which had first given the originsand now followed the alternating fortunes; as early as 1400, however, strong and independent, will be the first nucleus of the Savoy Dominion in the Langhe. Entrusted in 1409 the family Della Torre, rich not only financial means but also by a deep Christian faith, Bastia Bonifacio of the tower was the patron who, with passion, ardor and is undergirded the expansion of Church of San Fiorenzo, realizing the splendid chapel that we can admire today. Its simple structure encloses within a cycle of frescoes so extraordinary and impressive leave amazed visitors. Are neatly 326 sq.m. of frescoes in several coats from popular schools of 15th century polychrome walls, simple art, bare of frills but plenty of deep religiosity and mysticism; a "Bible of the poor" that, through the stories of the Saints, the life and passion of Christ, heaven and hell, do you instruct catechesis, lecturing and comfort not only the simple people of the rural community at that time, but also the enchanted visitors today. The frescoes are dated June 24, 1472.
