  • Been years since I read the Pinacoteca De Nittis in Barletta, but I've never been able to visit it. Finally a beautiful day in Puglia without too many commitments and in the company of a friend with the same passions let's jump in Barletta. The building itself is gorgeous, with Baroque decorations on the façade. The art gallery, very well organised is made up of over 140 works, donated by bequest from the French wife of the painter to his hometown. Landscapes and still lifes are stunning. One for all, the breakfast in the garden, depicting his wife and son sat down at a table set with beautiful dishes that make the figurative painting almost in still life. Landscapes with snow or views Londoners shrouded in mist. Some nice glimpse of Apulia with some trains puffing are lost amid swirls of smoke in the countryside. Wonderful works, from great Museum (some works are temporarily given to important foreign museums) that make us feel proud of having artists like Dalton born in our land.

  • Most of the paintings of De Nittis herein, are definitive studies for works that are found across Europe. These studies are great because you can see better the technique of the artist, the freshness of his sudden, research of colours and atmospheres. In a sense I'm even more Impressionist works. Amazing how a few signs, with a few brush strokes, you can describe landscapes, scenes, emotions. Worth visiting.

  • Although there are paintings of one great artist, it seems to be in a real Museum. Perfect.

  • De Nittis is a not very well know Italian painter that will remind you of the more famous french impressionists. The building is a beautiful example of italian baroque and worth the visit on its own.
  • Must see in barletta. Gallery with paintings of great Peppino Dalton, on display well taken care of. Entertainment for a good half an hour even for non-experts of art.

  • Nice building, became the Museum of our painter (Impressionism) and countryman g. De Nittis. All the locals should visit and admire his paintings at least once.
