  • Located on the southern outskirts of Bari, along the highway to Brindisi, the shrine has a structure, simple and sober, was inaugurated on December 10, 1967. It houses the mortal remains of over 75,000 casualties, of which 45,000 persons unknown, reported at home following the divestiture of war cemeteries in its time formed the overseas territories where they operated Italian units during the 1° and 2° world war. Recently there were arranged also the mortal remains of those soldiers and civilians, have died in concentration camps or work established after 1 ' September 8, 1943, in the territory of the former German Democratic public. The monumental complex, horizontal, is surrounded by a large park and consists of two floors: ground floor and ground floor and presents, on the porch and stairway, a historical Museum Recalling briefly the various stages of the second world war and where collected numerous documents, photographs, sketches, uniforms, weapons, memorabilia and personal belongings. It is a place of deep reflection on the cruelty of war and on the value and the sacrifice of so many young fighters who gave their lives to establish ideals today virtually unknown.

  • We were at the shrine on December 3, 2016 to render our joint visit died. Parties from Bergamo and arrived at the shrine greeted so nothing short of brotherly by Lt. Col. Mac Donato and his collaborators who accompanied us to the place of burial of our relative. Later, in their company, we visited this place where my only thought was the reflection and emotion. Will definitely be staying here again as soon as possible and recommend a visit to honor many young soldiers who died for the fatherland. A big thanks to Director David Mabry for his expertise, helpfulness and kindness. I guess by now every morning there will be from me a thought and a prayer for all these young valiant heroes! • I've been there twice already, the Shrine is huge and should be visited just to watch all those names that recall our fallen. Everyone there has been great kindness and availability, with the manager who guided us, we did see where is our dear and pointed out all the moments in which fell the different soldiers. He also played with us a brief ceremony for the fallen. Congratulations indeed.
