  • It's definitely an amazing image that appears to not many visitors (it's quite off the tourist circuit) when faced to the Russian Orthodox Church in Bari, dedicated to the Saint most venerated by the whole Orthodox world: St Nicholas the Wonderworker. The evident Oriental profile, highlighted by bright green Majolica dome that covers the rounded and sloping roofs, also remind us that this religious building is an important symbol of Union with the civilization in Eastern Europe and the Eastern basin of Mediterranean. Inside the Church, among the many paintings and the many beautiful icons, it is not difficult to be involved from a mystical atmosphere and recollection

  • Get that this church has a very interesting feature and little seen in terms of ´ Catholic temples. There are no problems, religious ceremonies of both the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church. In terms of what to enjoy, it is worth highlighting the rich ceiling, decorated in the 16th/17th century, by the Sforza, the time when they held power in the region. Complementing, in the chapel of the relics, an urn with two supposed pieces of the cross of Christ which leads us to think of Erasmus of Rotterdam who said there are so many pieces of the cross that together would build Noah's Ark ... Underground is the crypt with the remains of San Nicola and Bonna Sforza who was killed in unexplained conditions and after the burned body in conditions even more strange.

  • The Bari Carrassi District contains a gem of Russian art: the Church of St. Nicholas with the adjoining College to host Russian guests pilgrims to S.Nicola.La's Basilica was built by Tsar Nicholas II, built by a Russian engineer following the example of the Russian churches with onion Dome, covered with green tiles. The entrance is decorated with an artistic bronze statue of Saint Nicholas. the Interior is decorated according to the canons of orthodoxy. Gorgeous wrought iron wreath on the iconostasis. Solemn celebrations for the many Russians who pewllegrini every week in Bari to venerate the relics of St. Nicholas in his monumental Basilica.
