  • Wedged between steep sides almost to the peak of Mount Aureo and the sea. White houses and dense network of narrow streets and stairways. On piazza Umberto 1st is the Church of s. Salvatore de Bireto, which elected the Doge of the Republic of Amalfi. Founded in 940 retains medieval elements as the bronze door from Constantinople in 1087, like cal Cathedral of Amalfi and a 12th century falls hurdle.
