  • In the Centre of Asti, a beautiful medieval building in a town architecturally varied without any real personality style. The view from the top obviously suffers and it is nothing extraordinary.

  • La torre troyana is centrally located, a few metres from corso alfieri, on one side of piazza medici. from the medieval period is named after the family which owned until its extinction. He then moved to the city in 1400 and became City Tower, with installation of a Bell that marked the hours and moments of city life. the current Bell dates from the middle of 500 and is one of the oldest in Piedmont! the structure has been restored and is in excellent condition. is 44 metres high and inside was a really well made wooden staircase, which gives you access to the top through 199 steps to nothing tiring! from the Windows you can enjoy the view of different views and climbing from the top the view sweeps across asti. I suffer from dizziness though I made the climb alone and have had no problems since the scale is well thought out and does not offer open spaces that can create problems. Unfortunately it is not always open to the public. the site of the town says it is open by reservation between April and October on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 to 13 and from 16 19 all but I haven't checked. on the occasion of some events is still visitable. I went there on Saturday afternoon before the Sunday of the palio as they expected a free ticket for those who own the Museum subscription which allowed access to Palace mazzetti, Tower, the crypt of St Peter's and Baptistry sant'anastasio domus romana-all located along corso alfieri-can be used in two days. I'm not sure though if this opportunity will last over time or was limited to this holiday season. recommended visit!!

  • Asti has preserved several medieval evidence, including the beautiful red Tower (as in Ivrea) called Troyana. Other towers intuited by location (like that of the ancient Roman access) or soar to protect a city within a city: Guelph and ghibelline families fortified quadrilaterals in constant struggle. Curious.
