  • Located in the heart of Asti, in the central square, piazza San Secondo, dedicated to the patron saint of the city, this church view outside a typical aspect of the Gothic Piedmontese, with arches and plumes and the typical colours white and red, data from terracotta and sandstone. Upon entering, you notice, on the left, what was the passage door to go directly inside the Town Hall. Later we find an important work by Gandolfino da Roreto and, at the top of the nave, the entrance to the underground Crypt which houses the relics of the Saint. Passing the right aisle, there is a section of the church dedicated to the Palio, the city's main event, with the presence of the Northern League and some of Palii (velvet designed by local artists, given as a gift to the winner of the race) most historical and important.

  • It seems to me that the locals are somehow stingy on the design of the temple, dedicated to the heavenly patron of their city. Take won the Peter and Paul Cathedral St. Petersburg, he somehow came out though. And here the building boasts preserved medieval features, but never luxuriant design. Even inside, where, seemingly, everything should be "on the run", and the situation is sufficiently modest.

  • like all the churches in the sense of peace and tranquility is the host. Very nice, only minus the paucity of artistic information and because of the short time available I had to look after the web news to satiate my curiosity. If I go back to Asti promise to revisit the collegiate more calmly
