  • Ancient temple of the goddess Minerva transformed into Santa Maria Catholic Temple. Magnificent Union of two distinct temples.

  • Church in Piazza del Comune, Centre of Assisi. Before being a church, was a Roman building that housed a courthouse and jail.

  • From pagan temple in Christian Church--impressive in its facade and interesting in its re-use. In the secular/administrative square and former Roman Forum--the Temple of Minerva becomes the Church of Santa Maria--original Roman Façade with its six Corinthian columns resting on the stylobate and ending after the entablature and pediment. The Benedictines between the 5th and 6th century transformed it into a place of worship. Until the 16th century, after several transformations and uses, becomes the Church we see.
