Architectural Building
A visit to Duomo di San Rufino will have you at the doors of one of the most important churches in the history of the Franciscan order. It is also famous for being the church in which Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Clare, and many of their disciples were baptized. The cathedral originated in the 12th century, after the bishop of Assisi had a miraculous vision. The Romanesque facade is a typical example of 12th-century Umbrian churches, and is divided into three levels featuring highly decorative friezes. Visit the famous font inside, and at the same time take a look at the underground crypt, which houses a Roman sarcophagus from the third century. • Beautiful the underside that can see through transparent floor at the entrance to the Cathedral. The rate of 3.50 (2.50 for groups of 4 people or more) definitely worth a visit. You can see the part of the year 1000, the basilica cistern, several church ornaments and paintings, plus part of frescoes. Simply put a small museum.

  • Medieval Basilica rebuilt in neoclassical style until about 1600. It is dedicated to another Saint of Assisi, San Rufino. Exterior and beautiful façade and integrated into the architecture of the square. Stood near the Roman walls and medieval then. Crypt can be visited, many particulars of old building can look through Windows onto the floor. Solemn and silent with current architecture that harks back to neoclassical. To visit with support to appreciate the uniqueness of the ancient part of the medieval basilica. In the yard there is a plaque from the references of the casa di Santa Chiara

  • This is a beautiful cathedral and the courtyard in front of it is an area where Saint Francis preached.
  • Worth stopping and checking out
  • Facciata stupenda
  • Stupenda struttura
  • Beautiful Romanesque church with rosettes and ornate portals with statues and decorations. The Interior has unfortunately been rearranged; Nice crypt.
