  • The Church of 600, a Greek cross, with convent, stands on the site of the paternal home of St. Francis. A modern sculpture on the square represents the father and mother of the Holy. The square also has the peace Bell. The convent houses the holy books to consult. The Church contains the fondaco of the dwelling of the Holy.

  • It is an 18th-century building enclosing the (alleged) places of childhood of St. Francis. in my view, not particularly interesting.

  • The new Church is in a small square on the main street of Assisi. Outside there is a monument dedicated to the parents of Saint Francis. It is built on what used to be the home of the parents of the Saint and the particularity is that prison is called because inside there is a cell of one and a half metres square where the Pope's penned his son Francesco to prevent asset stripping and embark on the path of santitaà

  • This beautiful little church and the square around it was constructed over the area in which Saint Francis' home was located.
  • In 2010, we celebrated our 52nd anniversary in Italy. One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the city of Assisi where we stayed at the Hotel Alexander. We were hoping for a room with a beautiful view, but instead the view was blocked entirely by the huge dome of the "New Church" next door. Then we realized that this WAS the beautiful view! What more could you want than a magnificent ancient dome almost within touching distance! Wonderful memories.

  • According to tradition, this church is built on the structure of the birthplace of Saint Francis.
