Piazza del Popolo, Ascoli Piceno

(1,400 reviews on the web)
Landmark
Piazza del Popolo was once a gateway to Rome for travelers from the north and a nexus of one of the ancient empire's most important roads. Today, you can admire the Neoclassical plaza's 24 m (78.7 ft) Egyptian obelisk, cupolas, and archways. The fountains were designed in the first half of the 19th century. Visit the churches of Santa Maria Montesanto, Santa Maria dei Miracoli, and Santa Maria del Popolo. The latter is built upon Roman Emperor Nero's resting place. • A place full of harmony, with the white travertine marble floors and elegant buildings, which gives a particular light. Large square that enhances the discretion of buildings, all low, on which stand out without going over the top, with the Palazzo dei Capitani del Popolo and the Church of san Francesco. A square which is worth observing from multiple points of observation, admiring glimpses one different from the next. The historical bars (such as the Caffè Meletti) provide an opportunity to sit and watch. Out of time? No, in a time that we can conquer us again today, just look it up. ...
