  • In the small town of Ascoli Piceno, rich in historical buildings and artifacts, we were impressed by the Malatesta fortress, erected on the banks of the torrent Castellano to ingress protection East of the city, just after the bridge of Porta Maggiore. The present building has undergone various uses: in Roman times was the site of a thermal plant on which flowed Salmacina Springs, then in about 1300 become defensive fortress, destroyed and erect again, she hosted as a Poor monastery, which later became the prison until 1980-1982. Now completely restored appears in its heyday, now home to a Museum, on the top floor there is the permanent exhibition of the early middle ages for which you will have to pay a ticket to €4.00. Connected to the fortress there is the bridge of di Cecco or "Devil's bridge" (it is said that Carter has built in one night with the help of the devil) is the oldest Roman bridge in Ascoli Piceno. I think it is one of the beauties that Ascoli gives its visitors ... salonup agvgroup!

  • Hello everyone. The Malatesta fortress, it was built on an ancient Roman Fort in defensive bulwark of the bridge over the river Carlos and entrance to the city. Destroyed and rebuilt several times, Galeotto Malatesta, condottiero stuffed militias in the war against Fermo, arranged to strengthen it and became a medieval fortress impregnable named Forte Malatesta (ca 1350). Restored in 1828, the fortress was used as a prison. Now, a Museum, and guided tour costs 6 euros, you can visit the important examples found in the fortress in various historical periods.

  • I visited this strong and I must say that I enjoyed it. In all honesty, the outer walls are more suggestive of the Interior also because with longer the furnishings. CMQ is worth a visit, because there is an exhibition of early Middle Ages another view. They walked the two girls working inside. Were very cute because they explained how it worked on strong a source.

  • Imposing fortress with a complex history and above, and a range of uses. I found the staff helpful, courteous and extremely knowledgeable. Have personally guided visits by explaining in great detail the various peculiarities of the place.

  • Closed the underground part but still interesting. Rough organization, bulletin boards with the few things exposed without any description and digital displays are switched off. For 6 euro I thought to much better. Beautiful fortress.
