Piazza Grande, Arezzo

(4.8/5 based on 1,300+ reviews on the web)
Step into the red-brick Piazza Grande in Arezzo to admire Gothic and Renaissance-era palaces and the 700-year-old church of Santa Maria della Pieve. You'll see decorative monuments to, among others, a member of Italy's powerful Medici family. People-watch at your choice of cafes and restaurants. The plaza is slanted downhill, so remember to walk with care if it's wet out. Add Piazza Grande and other attractions to your Arezzo trip itinerary using our Arezzo vacation builder.

  • A very particular architecturally. Famous for being the set of some scenes from the movie: "life is beautiful" by Roberto Benigni. Very manicured, impressive in different seasons of the year as it hosts traditional markets and festivals.

  • The most famous square of the city, which from place 2 or 3 times a year in the most watched event in history of the province: the Saracen Joust! For a few years re-paved and making new is really beautiful and charming, with restaurants, bars and sights to see
