  • A patrician and Arezzo and salt matchmakers families. A typical merchant families is sumptuous and luminous courtyard for decades a very heterogeneous State Museum. From archaic and ancient stones up to important fragments collects memorabilia aretini peculiar to its history as the Madonnas of sandstone that decorated the walls Tarlatesche doors and a rarity as the Angel of 1200 that hung over the door of the freezer in circle tarlatesca of the fortress of San Donato. That's a big mistake having it removed from its niche Portal Ridge where at the behest of Cosimo I was better protected from St. Gall in the rescue of that door. Shut that door with the Archangel Michael above the arch. That "Archangel Michael" was placed according to ancient tradition from the earliest crusades of Anjou in the axis that from Scotland leads to Jerusalem in the Crusader, Arezzo a Germanic crusading station. Drastic reduction of humidity conditions and saline growth will damage its preservation being lived before and better, outdoors, in humid conditions gives life to the sandstone. The upper floors are important collections of coins and marvellous Majolica salt; one of the most beautiful and rich of the Renaissance. A museum difficult to visit for limited staff but that it is worth to wait for a single visit.

  • For those of us who love the medieval and Renaissance art this museum is a must! Just that for lack of staff open a little when he wants or whenever possible. I think this is a real crime towards tourists that thousands every day visit Arezzo ... A real treasure trove, nowadays in a city of art it is not possible to fix this? Unique pieces, rare coins, paintings by Vasari and much more ... Not to be missed!!

  • It was the only museum that we didn't get to visit in Arezzo! We were warned that we would have difficulties, but we really believed it until we found ourselves in front of the keeper of the Museum that he prevented from entering because, according to her, the Museum was closed for the time exposed was supposed to be open! We pointed out the discrepancy and invited us to go away because the Museum was too big and couldn't visit it in that short time, we pointed out that we already have a ticket and that the next day we would not have been able to return, but to no avail, was adamant as in favor me his name!
