  • It was more interesting than I suspected. It's some very nice (sometimes tiny) work. A medallion (I. OG) particularly appealed to me: I saw the man that was murdered. It was more interesting than I suspected. They are some very beautiful (sometimes tiny) works by Etruscans, Romans, Greeks. A medallion (I. OG) particularly appealed to me: I formally saw the man that was pictured. Unfortunately, it was often hard to find an English-language explanation and the lighting was poor. There were (certainly interesting) films to watch, unfortunately only in Italian without subtitles.

  • The National Archaeological Museum of Arezzo, named after another grande of Arezzo, Gaius Cilnio Mecenateè, together with the Archaeological Museum of Florence and the Museum of the Etruscan Academy of Cortona, the most important permanent exhibition of archaeological finds of Tuscany. The Museum is housed in the former convent of the Olivetani of San Bernardo, built in the FOURTEENTH century on the remains of the merdiional part of the Roman amphitheatre (dating to the middle of the SECOND century A.D.), whose vaults are preserved to the first floor of the building Museum. The museum is divided into 26 halls, while the Roman amphitheatre hosts events, shows and concerts in the summer period. Among the most significant exhibits housed in the museum, the jewels of the necropolis of Poggio del Sole, an imposing polychrome frontonal decoration from Piazza S. Jacopo (480 B.C.), a series of portrait heads – votive busts from the way of the Working Society (II-I B.C.), the exhibits Of the Sanctuary of Castelsecco (decorative slabs, a stone altar and votive statuettes of children in swaddling), a pebble inscribed for divination and a quinipondium, a large coin specimen of which there are up to now only two specimens. The museum also preserves the richest collection in the world of aretine sealed earthen vases, produced in Arezzo between the middle of the I century B.C. and the middle of the I century A.D. which made the city famous in the ancient world. From the necropolis of the territory come the Amphora Attica da Casalta with the rat of Hippodamia, the school of the painter of Meidias (420-410 B.C.) and the torso of Marciano, funerary sculpture of the archaic Etruscan period. The Roman section includes mosaics, brontstones, sculptures, inscriptions, funerary monuments, portraits and tomb kits, including that of Maiden found in the locality of "Puglia". With the amphitheatre to be framed, in the center of Arezzo, it is one of the stops absolutely not to be missed if you are passionate about art and culture.

  • The museum is very well maintained, there are mosaics, Etruscan and Roman artifacts, outside there is a garden with a very nice Roman amphitheatre, definitely worth a visit.

  • Interesting museum, built inside a former monastery which in turn was built on top of Roman amphitheatre. You can see half of the remaining Roman ruins in the garden of the museum. Highlights from the collections are the small baby statue which were offered ti the gods for request of fertility, some beautiful roman painted vase and great jewellery. Also very strange Etruscan tools called "graffion" similar to metal hooks we still nowadays don't know the use.
  • Interesting remnants of what was once a collosseum. Worth a quick look if you're very near. It's surrounded by an Iron fence.
  • Excellent experience
  • Beautiful. I have visited it several times and also with a knowledgeable guide I highly recommend if you are interested in historical references or otherwise. The museum has very beautiful pieces and exhibits that leave you with the desire to return to visit it over and over again. If you are passionate about history and culture or you are also just passing through or visiting Arezzo this is definitely one of the main points to visit.

  • Very interesting with the new direction evenings of deepening of the Etruscans. To improve the interior of the museum full of architectural barriers and old setting. See the positive example of the brand of Cortona.. When we learn, we learn even if we are the capital.
