  • The Bell Tower is built of marble blocks, which dismantled the amphitheatre and plays deemed the outlines of the famous lighthouse of Alexandria. It really serves as a beacon: when approaching Venice at this lofty Bell Tower Aquileia easily identified. From the height of this tower is seen surprisingly little-mainly because there is simply nothing around, but still, if you look at the South (towards the sea), you can see the outline of Grado. What lacked above, offset by the fact that there are below: large antique mosaic with animals and birds.

  • The Bell Tower is impressive from the outside, above the basilica and feeling of momentum and power with his height and austere architecture, pity it was closed and I couldn't climb to the top, I seemed to understand that it is closed in winter, but I am not sure.

  • If you're visiting the badilica you can't get on God. But be careful to wear sensible shoes, the steps are very high, in stone and you might slip. Don't go here if you have problems (heart, knees) because it is quite challenging. Narrow stairs when you cross who goes in the opposite direction. The view from the top is worth it.

  • Fantastic site and amazing history. Well preserved and very easy access to different areas. Belltower is closed between 13:30-15:30 but the rest is open throughout the day.
  • It's a really beautiful Church. Must come here is you are in the area
  • Again a really impressive old basilica. This is a must see also in conjunction with the old roman excavated parts of the ancient city aquiliera.
  • A very pleasant little town, lots of Roman ruins to look at, a very pleasant and accessible walk among the ruins.
  • Nothing similar in Italy, stunning mosaics in the church
