  • Whenever we come to Aosta parked near this arch, which seems to greet us in this lovely city. Well preserved is truly a gem!

  • He celebrates here the victory of Augustus and its consuls on Salassi them original Ligurian who then occupied the Valley. The Romans built indeed, after their victory, on the former capital salasso Cordele, the city of Aosta, under the name of then: Augusta Praetoria Salassorum. The city was populated by veterans of the legions Roman and their families. The arc de triomphe is quite simple construction with a somewhat sparse ornamentation today.
