Lake Martignano, is a small lake in Lazio, Italy 15mi north-north-west of Rome, in an extinct crater or maar. Administratively its coast is divided amongst the municipalities of Rome, Anguillara Sabazia and Campagnano di Roma.OverviewIn ancient times Lake Martignano was part of southern Etruria and called Alsietinus Lacus. Augustus drew from it the Aqua Alsietina; the water was hardly fit to drink, and was mainly intended to supply his naumachia (lake made for a sham naval battle) at Rome, near San Francesco a Ripa, on the right bank of the Tiber, where some traces of the aqueduct were perhaps found in 1720. The course of the aqueduct, which was mainly subterranean, is practically unknown: Frontinus tells us that it received a branch from the lake of Bracciano near Careiae (Galera): and an inscription relating to it was found in this district in 1887.There is a lawn beach, lake-side cafes and restaurants, and walking tracks.Nearby townsCampagnano di RomaBraccianoAnguillara SabaziaTrevignano RomanoOriolo RomanoSutriCapranicaCesano

  • I went today with a friend of mine at Lake Martignano, relaxing holiday. First time I go under a party. The Lake is truly wonderful, a kind of paradise, surrounded by greenery. The only flaw the shuttle. They didn't know how to get since there are the ztl so things were two: feet (about three kilometers) or wait for the shuttle that would have brought up to a point and then continue on foot. Having cooler we opted for the shuttle (there were 2). I did not put all stars for the simple fact that were a bit disorganized. Only two shuttles under Easter Monday was a tad bit, plus throw that people did not respect the rank, so it happened that those arriving for last took the shuttle before the others. A little for incivility a little because there was no one to organize the whole thing. 5 euro for parking and 2 euros per head for the shuttle, there may also be if it weren't for the disorganization. In addition I would say that Yes, it is true that the air must circulate in the shuttle but, let us breathe the dust, he isn't. The shuttle service is from morning till 18.45. The rest is to go. The place is pretty cool. Even for kids and your four-legged friends.

  • A wonderful, almost untouched where you can spend a day relaxing and carefree. From the parking lot, you have to venture out to a dirt road and then down a descent where at the end the little gem of Martignano welcomes you in all its glory. The sandy beaches and tranquil atmosphere that reigns meadow fully describe being there. A secluded and enchanting.

  • It's amazing that near Rome there is this oasis of peace and immersion in nature. To get there there is a shuttle service or you can also walk along Trevignanese Street, between Anguillara and Trevignano, at the height of the sign to the farm the two lakes. For the whole year is almost deserted, until 2016 in summer were active in small venues with music and a little confusing. This year is much quieter and less crowded. There is a lovely beach, very long, a large lawn and the Lake is surrounded by forests. Children have a lot of fun.

  • Very beatiful
  • Lovely place, access quite a bit uncomfortable, but the place is worth the price of parking and shuttle. During spring, summer and part of autumn, you can park your car in a parking lot for a fee, from there a shuttle will take you to the edge of the Lake, from there you can get off a dirt road down until you get to the Lake, of course the return will be uphill. The shuttle has a service that goes from 8 to 18 or so, then it is your concern not arriving at the square of drawdown after that hour. As for the winter instead, if you'd like to visit the Lake, you should park your car a lot before and do a walking trail of about 3 km, or up mountain biking for the fit. Before the eating establishments were present, now have all been removed for abuse, so it would be better that we bring you food and water before arriving on site, since there will be areas where procure all within several kilometres.

  • Beautiful Lake and beautiful trails. A real natural oasis, ideal for strolling, sunbathing, bicycling. Well managed and clean.

  • The Lake is a little awkward to get to but definitely the effort is compensated by the beauty of the place.
