  • The people of Ancona has always had a close connection with its port, when I was a child it was use to go on Saturday evening at the port for a walk to see the ships leave, maybe eating an ice cream. Today the port became a central pivot of the city's economy, after years of calm something moves and the passenger and cargo traffic has received an increase of several percentage points. The reopening of the old port to citizenship has become a model for export to maritime cities biggest and emblazoned (Bari and Naples) they now want to make them the idea of the Autorità Portuale di Ancona. The latter's summer numbers speak of a success of the demonstrations here maintained: 3 thousand people for the "AMAtriciana", 2 thousand for the first edition of the "Franco Corelli" (dedicated to the great tenor native Doric City) and about a thousand for the "Premio Gianni Ravera", dedicated to the singer, promoter, talent scout and organizer of events (Festival of San Remo , Castrocaro Festival, Saint Vincent summer) native to the nearby Castro.

  • On the return journey from southern Italy to Munich, we have inserted a short stop in Ancona and briefly visited the bustling harbour and the old town. The port shows very vital, as has already been said, but the old town has the impression made on us, that here is not all for the best. Unkempt house fronts and blind window suggest that the city has seen better times. yet she is visiting, even if quite worth a short visit.
