  • The feeling experienced when entering the crypt is astounded at such beauty. And pride for Italy, which has many small treasures, incardinated firmly in territory. In the crypt there are descriptive panels explaining the subjects painted in various sectors, such as the scenes of the martyrdom of St Magnus, and translation of his remains from Veroli to the Cathedral of Anagni. Central vaults there are various scenes from the old testament. And then you look at the pictures on the walls of the right section painted by the third master, miracles of Thomas Beckett, made with depth and chiaroscuro effects, dating from the late 12th and early 13th century. On the floor you notice the precious marble works of the Cosmati floor, dated to about 1200. To preserve the environment there is ban on taking photographs: you stay focused and enjoy the beauty of the environment, without being distracted by anything. Worth visiting this part of the story!

  • The frescoes in the crypt are absolutely wonderful and must be visited. The definiziione of the Sistine Chapel of the middle ages may seem high but it is not far from reality. But take care to plan your visit. You have to have a lot of time to waste. If you read that the vault is open until 13 before planning a trip of more than 200 Km in order to visit, be annoyed because you can not be visited after 10.30 is more calm reaction that you might have. But during religious services. Obviously religious services aren't in crypt but to be able to visit you must follow an itinerary must. We returned after 15 as they directed but explain that the vault is lit for only 20 minutes at prefisssati. I find it commendable that you can contigentare logins to avoid damaging the frescoes but not be forced, for the visit to the crypt, to follow an itinerary of lesser interest. And especially with a guide that explains only the "little stories" than was the top physically Boniface VIII etc. leaving aside his political stature, who can define "cleavage" religious schism, which confuses the architectural frieze known as almond as "nutty". A shame to see a proper illustration of a treasure not as the frescoes in the crypt. Best rather an audioguide

  • It is a site that leave enchanted by the harmony of colors that greets you as you enter. The frescoes on the walls and the vault are a lesson in history, art, philosophy. The floors are covered with mosaics in geometrical design truly remarkable color. You should be accompanied by one of the great guides of Anagni. A site not to be missed!
