Duomo di Sant'Andrea Apostolo, Amalfi

(2,400+ reviews on the web)
Religious Site
Remodeled many times since the ninth century, Duomo di Sant'Andrea Apostolo is home to the Crypt of St. Andrew. Two crosses--one a 13th-century wooden crucifix, the other mother of pearl brought from the Holy Land--represent two different periods in the cathedral's history. The bronze doors of the church were cast in the city of Constantinople before 1066, making them the city's earliest architectural feature of post-Roman manufacture. Visit the gardens, where arches, colonnades, and sculptures blend in with the colorful landscaping. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Amalfi holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Duomo di Sant'Andrea Apostolo and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • The historic Cathedral, worthy of a city, which in a past not distant, boasted of being one of the 4 maritime republics. It is right in the middle of the beautiful town of Amalfi, and is always full of tourists with long benches trying to climb to climb at its entrance. Already seen in at least another 2-3 occasions, this time we finally decided to visit it inside (things to do a ticket, which entitles you to visit the cloister, crypt and a small museum within it). Definitely worth going there.
