Coast Road, Amalfi Coast

4.2
#3 of 60 in Outdoors in Amalfi Coast
Drive--or take a bus--along Coast Road, a scenic route that curves along the southern cliffs of the Sorrento Peninsula. Travel between towns and villages like Salerno, Ravello, Amalfi, and Positano, while stopping at view points, beaches, Roman ruins, and churches. Twist around hairpin turns on roads carved into the side of the coast, before stopping in beautiful villages that have inspired artists over the centuries, from 14th-century writer Giovanni Boccaccio to playwright Tennessee Williams. • During our rented a car to leave but of Vico Equense agree to Amalfi. As Director of the bootdisk, as Bagh is the sometimes nasty. A good tip is to make sure to avoid the weekend because during the week is already a chaos of tourist buses, large and small, mobile homes, buses and, above all, parked cars and scooters, much scooters. A bit kamikaze but best a controlled chaos. Parking is not possible because of the crowds, sometimes standing still. But the view is priceless. After visit Amalfi returned to Vico and even though sent the navigation us to the highway Naples we decided to fling open the hood and back to cruising along the same road. Even though sweat you sometimes because the job really but a centimeter space gives the experience and sight are unforgettable.

Where to stay in Amalfi

Amalfi abounds in luxurious villas and hotels offering rooms with panoramic views of the coastline. Centrally located hotels provide a convenient base for day trips to the surrounding area, but if you wish to explore the famous coastline on a limited budget, edge-of-town B&Bs offer a good alternative the more expensive town center. Amalfi has a good public transport network, so you won't need a private car to get around. Unlike fashionable resorts, small B&Bs also offer free access to good beaches.
