Scenic Drive Outdoor Activity
Drive--or take a bus--along Coast Road, a scenic route that curves along the southern cliffs of the Sorrento Peninsula. Travel between towns and villages like Salerno, Ravello, Amalfi, and Positano, while stopping at view points, beaches, Roman ruins, and churches. Twist around hairpin turns on roads carved into the side of the coast, before stopping in beautiful villages that have inspired artists over the centuries, from 14th-century writer Giovanni Boccaccio to playwright Tennessee Williams. Where to stay in Amalfi

Amalfi abounds in luxurious villas and hotels offering rooms with panoramic views of the coastline. Centrally located hotels provide a convenient base for day trips to the surrounding area, but if you wish to explore the famous coastline on a limited budget, edge-of-town B&Bs offer a good alternative the more expensive town center. Amalfi has a good public transport network, so you won't need a private car to get around. Unlike fashionable resorts, small B&Bs also offer free access to good beaches.
