  • One of the most visited museums in Liguria, and with reason. Unique and inimitable collection of glass, through 400 years of history of glass manufacturing altarese, both for industrial use, both artistic and for domestic purposes. A place of art, light and magic. Stories of men, of Sorrows, glories, travels and labors, history and life of a community and of a whole country.

  • Visiting the glass museum Altare is a unique experience, both for the beauty and variety of objects, real works of art that demonstrate the glassmaker activities over the years, until the closure of furnaces, with works by masters of the time until the last survivors of this ancient art, still available to the public of adults and children in the opening days of the ocme took their demonstrations of furnaces job. It's nice to see the glass come alive "magically" between their hands. It is advisable to bring cameras to capture unique moments, comfortable shoes and warm clothes if you go in winter, in order to stay long to admire the creations of these artists, generally the kilns are open in the afternoon, but we recommend a visit, preferably made before, the Museum showing all-round glassmaking activity that took place over time.

  • A visit which left me amazed amazed, fascinated and glad I documented this Museum in the famous beautiful, historic Villa Rosa, that alone is a monument of unique beauty, in this little town once home to many Masters, today neither remained few but everybody from incomparable mastery. In the Museum there are all the works created by them in different colours and shapes. Guarded by staff and managers who look after very carefully for years, always being helpful and kind to anyone intending to see them, it is very often with personal sacrifice of hours and work. The Museum is situated on two floors and the works are exhibited in specially demarcated bedrooms so as not to too bring the regulars, others in glass walls where in my opinion made of glass, their reflections fade into the works, both times by distorting the splendor. A break or a trip should be a norm for anyone arriving in this small village in Liguria, Altar, but only 10 Km from Savona and 1 Km from Highway Savona-Torino.
