Frecce delle Grotte di Antonio Piccinnu, Alghero

(3.5/5 based on 2,800+ reviews on the web)
Explore ancient cave dwellings on the Island of Sardinia at Frecce delle Grotte di Antonio Piccinnu. Discovered by fishermen in the 18th century, the cave is just above sea level and accessible only when the water is calm via a steep staircase cut into sheer cliff wall. Take a guided tour through the narrow, 4 km (2.5 mi) long cave system to admire the stalagmite and stalactite formations. You can take a boat to the cave from the port of Alghero to view the island's coastline from the water. • We went to the caves on a day when the Sun doesn't splendeva.....la day was in little cloudy but the sea was not moved. Someone had already "warned" that unfortunately even if the sea is rough ferries leave the stesso....ma arrived at the caves are unable to attack and they come back. When we went the sea was choppy, the ferry is water inlet (I got soaked with the camera around my neck ...) for more unfortunately all that movement to create discomfort in people who have started throwing up.. especially you arrive at your destination as it struggled to remain attached and discharges of the ferry gave further malaise ... thrown on a small entrance all huddled, with people who were male....ci we wound up having to queue to pay the entrance ... no one understood niente...ci they let 10-minute visit with a guide who spoke for himself (while we were just walked in she was halfway and the speakers you could hear of something we have not seen!!) . And then thrown back on the boat again like cattle we stepped back. Very bad. Spent a lot of money on a bad morning. bad organization. Better to go to some nice beach nearby.

  • Illuminated, open and huge, well neat and clean, has of guide although not in all those languages. Can go to your step and remove photos without flash, it only bad is the amount of people that put in a group, even so is so large that if you late a little can stroll with tranquility and will be some photos in solo of it more cool. The access can be done through two-way: stairs with more than 600 steps to the edge of the cliff or using a boat that leaves you on the edge of the entrance, one takes in Alghero, but truth which to me to see them move from the boat to the cave gave me enough fear, looks at any time beating against the rocks. We chose to get off and walk up the stairs, it was not very tired indeed, the possible problem comes when Park goes enough people. We found a hollow miracle on one side of the road that takes you up to the top where the cave is located. I don't remember the price but around 13 euros, something carillo but I think that it is worth.

  • It is a typical visit to a quiet day which can be done overland, descending a staircase in the rock wall not suitable for all audiences, or from the sea by boat. We chose the last option. The part showing the cave is well lit and with the marked route. The explanations usually in Italian or in English.
