  • The Church of San Francesco is a monumental Roman Catholic Church in the city of Alghero. He stands in Via Carlo Alberto, in the heart of the historic centre. You can not miss him almost, because the Church has a beautiful and slender Gothic hexagonal Tower. The Church was built in the 13th century, with the later attached monastery, and is one of the most important Catalan Gothic buildings of Sardinia (Spain is only a small crossing ...). There is also a lot of uploaded and converted in all the centuries of its existence, and there is also a mix of architectural styles from all those past times, of the romance, through Gothic to 19th century. Fortunately, this beautiful and authentic buildings all preserved, and it's always a rest time to get away from the busy world outside and take some time for contemplation-or simply for rest and reflection. I was moved by the beautiful and simple cloister, and the great convent chapel, where a monk and a kind of shop stuff sold as in a museum shop. I found here also the only stained glass work of the churches in this place. Modern and colorful Windows, drawn by Antonio Deledda. In the Church is nave covered by a brick barrel vault, and that here is not plastered, what happens to very authentic. The ceiling is also not smooth-you see in the brick-work the round arches on top of the pillars. Very special! The modern lamps give a touch of the 20th century to: also in our century we can add something beautiful, and restoration of course, because also this church has had a major refurbishment. And rightly so. I would call this a ' Dear ' Church between Santa Maria Cathedral and the San Michele. A trio to see at all by the way.

  • The Church, built in sandstone, is marked externally by the Bell Tower, hexagonal bore on a square base and topped by a Spire, similar, though more modest in size, the Tower of the Cathedral. The Interior, designed in the fifteenth century nave with side chapels, shows up, after its restoration in the late 16th century, in the current trinavato system with five chapels on either side. The nave, divided into five sections, is marked by robust cruciform pillars and round arches. On a ledge of the fourth pillar on the left stands a wooden sculpture of Christ at the column, dating from the 17th century, which is carried in procession during Holy week. The chapels are home to some magnificent altars, built in the 18th century in Baroque style, such as those of our Lady of the angels and of Saint Anthony of Padua.

  • The mosaic dome and its beautiful colors bring a cheerful and almost magically to the beautiful Alghero. Recommended visit, especially around sunset; to sit quietly and reflect, embraced by sea, memories and scents.
