  • This is the largest Roman cistern in Europe still functioning. The place is very special but, unfortunately, poorly valued. In any case worth one visit (attention, for visiting please contact your Municipal Museum of Albano-Museum of great value).

  • The site is striking, collecting the water in tanks and then deploy it in Roman villas and camps of the Parthian Legion. Today it is used for the irrigation of the municipal gardens. Pity that there are no scheduled visits but you should contact your caretaker or rely on rare initiatives that organizes the Museo Civico di Albano.

  • The Cisternone of Albano Laziale is worth a visit. Pity that there is a structured input but that, in order to visit, you can't do anything but hope for the availability of Mr. Angelo (3383542611) which, as well as hold the keys of this valuable archaeological treasure, is the "guardian" of the amphitheatre severiano and the Church of Santa Maria at the roundabout. Mr. Angel goes through "his" jewels and described them as tourists with the precision proud affection, generous with advice on how much there is to see on the streets of the ancient Alba Longa. Hats off to Mr. Angelo but why not make more and more regularly accessible public goods?

  • Those who have visited the Basilica Cistern in Istanbul it may be well aware of what we're talking about. Well this Cistern is even older. An example of how our beautiful land has to be told in all respects, historical and engineering. Unfortunately it is not valued as that of Istanbul. They explained that the plans for a footbridge there are from 20 years ago, but the policy of the city of Albano apparently is not aware of that great treasure can boast. I invite everyone to visit, not all Nations can enjoy treasures still in operation of ERAs so ancient.

  • Archaeological treasure to visit! Beautiful and sadly undervalued.
