  • Morgantina was an important city of ancient times. Mosaics, close almost 600 years older than in the neighbouring Villa Romana del Casale, a fascinating theater, an Agora and many houses let on an important Greek city in ancient times. You should take be sure 2 hours time for the wide area. Also, you should make the tour best in the morning, because it might be too hot.

  • We arrived at Aidone since the weather was not good and we had visited the villa romana del Casale. Found some remains, impresses. It is not a single building or one of the hundreds of rebuilt amphitheatres that abound in the Mediterranean. When you reach the Esplanade, and you can see the whole, your head is able to get an idea of how should be living in a colony of Syracuse: how were the streets, where argued about politics, where justice is taught, or where they bought or sold merchandise. Views of Mount Etna and a still more ancient settlement on the hill opposite. If you go through Aidone or Piazza Armerina, it is worth... In our case, we were also virtually alone. An experience full of history.
