  • To enjoy the Greek temples in impressive state of conservation in Sicily, go to the archaeological area of Agrigento. The famous Valley brings together beautiful buildings, such as temples to Juno, of Concord and Heracles or Hercules are the most impressive. The ideal is to go in the spring, when the almond trees will be in bloom and the pleasant climate, as in summer, the temperature rises and the program rather than being nice become tiring and unattractive. Also recommend going to the place in the evening when you can see the temples illuminated. The Temple of Juno, stands on elevated site, and was dedicated to the goddess protector of marriage and childbirth. It's beautiful, but it bears traces of fire caused by the Carthaginian invaders. The Temple of Concord remembers the Virgin, but has an intense yellow coloration on the rocks of the region. It was used as a church and was later sacked. The Temple of Heracles or Hercules, according to references of the great writer Homer, off dedicated to the hero of Greek mythology. On the way towards the temples, we see magnificent trees: almond, olive and sheep with horns well twisted and long. There are ruins of Roman constructions in precarious state. An enjoyable program for those who love history and a good walk!

  • Essential if you are going to visit Sicily. But disappoint you that something so great is you crookedness slightly by the bad signs and that, despite carrying the audioguide, you miss part of the history of the place. Doing a normal tour, we hear 12 entries... Very little for all that there is.

  • What an stunning site! Athens may have a great story but this site is it! Highly recommend it at sunset & night . You'll have the best views and will avoid the heat and crowds. Is truly a delight to walk through these perfectly constructed and preserved structures. Unfortunately, just like most places in Italy n the sites are not maintain clean & organized but most importantly well protected. Most tourist get to climb everywhere specially in the less complete infrastructures. None the less, very happy to have been able to experience this just few hundred feet away from our hotel.
Buona escursione.
  • This is the biggest temple complex in Sicily. As a major tourist site it can get pretty busy in summer and there can be long queues to get in. I advise taking the taxi from the bottom parking to the top ticket office then walking back down. There are a bunch of temples dedicated to different god's, but the design is pretty standard, in various states of reconstruction. Great views over the valley to the sea. Allow at least 3 hours to see it all.
  • Well, it's damn hot in summer, but this is like a must see. Amazing blue sky with Greek ruins make great photos. From one end to another is like 2 km walk (4 km return, and up hill)! There's a choice to pay 5 euro to take shuttle within the park from one side to another. We didn't know it before, therefore we used the 5 euro shuttle "taxi" service in parking lot. I would recommend the shuttle within the park. Same price and you can rent a audio guide. (Renting audio guide requires ID deposits so you can only do it if you get out from same entry)
  • This site must not missed when visiting Sicily. The scenery is stunning; the ruins are beautiful and fascinating. Even if you are not naturally captivated by history and archaeology, the natural beauty will make it totally worth it. Make sure to bring plenty of water and good walking shoes - it is quite a vast area. Superb!
