This national monument, one of Sicily's main tourist attractions, contains the remains of seven Greek temples, all built in the Doric style. Most of the ancient temples here were excavated and restored during the middle of the 19th century under the direction of archaeologist Domenico Antonio Lo Faso Pietrasanta. The site includes parts of tombs and catacombs from the fourth century. Several Roman and Byzantine necropolises lie in an area used for burial purposes since ancient times. Choose from several guided tour options. • I think for the entry fee of 12€ there should be a few more facilities to make the visitors' experience a bit more pleasant. Nice to see, but really tiring to walk in the heat between ancient rubble. Enough water and a good timing is essential in summer!
  • Just magnificent. Breathtaking remains of history surrounded by beautiful scenery. The juxtaposition of the modern city in the background just adds to the beauty! Bring a water bottle and a hat, as on a sunny day, you'll be totally exposed to the elements and it gets HOT.
  • Simply an amazing place! I was not aware of the depth of the Greek influence here. These temples and all the infrastructure that goes with them have stood the test of time. Recommend you visit and and get a guide.
  • Absolutely breathtaking!!! Pictures do no justice it's a must see in Agrigento. Highly recommended going with a guide..there is so much history and knowledge that could be missed without one. We had Teresa! She was fabulous! Extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Made the experience that much more enjoyable. Wonderful experience
  • A must see in Sicily, worth the couple of hours in the remorseless sun we endured. The text shown in English is informative and precise. You're left on your own to walk around the site and can decide for yourself what to see and at what pace. Some modern art objects found through the entire location are a plus, very interesting addition.
