Tempio di Giunone, Agrigento

(400+ reviews on the web)
Ruin Historic Site
A highlight in the Valley of Temples, the partially restored ruins of Tempio di Giunone perch on top of a hill overlooking Agrigento. Built in honor of the goddess Hera (wife of Zeus), the temple bears scars on its pillars dating back to the Siege of Akragas in 406 BCE, when it was charred from the fires. The Romans later dedicated the temple to Juno, the wife of Jupiter. Take a guided tour to fully appreciate the area's rich history, and be sure to bring a camera along as the temple's position offers excellent views of the surroundings. Tempio di Giunone is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Agrigento Edition.

  • The Temples at Agrigento are exquisite. Be prepared to have your mind blown. Take a camera, a hat, sunglasses and time. Look around. Sit and think about the years and people who have been at that site...  more »

  • One of the most beautiful and impressive temples I've ever seen
  • A well-preserved greek temple.
  • Everything great. It's free for under 18, 5 € for under 25, 10€ for the others. I recommend to visit at the sunset, for a great experience.
  • The biggest of them all and the one with the prettiest sight too
  • Amazing temple, and right next to the east parking lot. Sit on the east side, and you'll also get the best views of the countryside.
