Tempio di Giunone, Agrigento

4.8
A highlight in the Valley of Temples, the partially restored ruins of Tempio di Giunone perch on top of a hill overlooking Agrigento. Built in honor of the goddess Hera (wife of Zeus), the temple bears scars on its pillars dating back to the Siege of Akragas in 406 BCE, when it was charred from the fires. The Romans later dedicated the temple to Juno, the wife of Jupiter. Take a guided tour to fully appreciate the area's rich history, and be sure to bring a camera along as the temple's position offers excellent views of the surroundings. • Recommended at sunset when you can enjoy the best time to visit all the temples. Spectacular photos at sunset with the temples illuminated.

  • Although not totally your feet you can admire an architectural masterpiece of the first order. Several columns were dropped due to earthquakes but it's still fabulous

  • One of the most beautiful and impressive temples I've ever seen
  • A well-preserved greek temple.
  • Everything great. It's free for under 18, 5 € for under 25, 10€ for the others. I recommend to visit at the sunset, for a great experience.
  • The biggest of them all and the one with the prettiest sight too
  • Amazing temple, and right next to the east parking lot. Sit on the east side, and you'll also get the best views of the countryside.
