Tempio di Giunone, Agrigento

(4.8/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
A highlight in the Valley of Temples, the partially restored ruins of Tempio di Giunone perch on top of a hill overlooking Agrigento. Built in honor of the goddess Hera (wife of Zeus), the temple bears scars on its pillars dating back to the Siege of Akragas in 406 BCE, when it was charred from the fires. The Romans later dedicated the temple to Juno, the wife of Jupiter. Take a guided tour to fully appreciate the area's rich history, and be sure to bring a camera along as the temple's position offers excellent views of the surroundings. Tempio di Giunone is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Agrigento Edition.

  • After the Temple of Concord, along the Avenue and past the necropolis overlooking the latter end of the Hill Temple attributed to the goddess of marriage and childbirth, well preserved

  • Man's work but also the stones, the colors, the Majesty. All done to live emotions. And many thanks to the guides who know how to accompany you in the discovery of these wonders. 10 € spent well. Congratulations

  • We walked on the site by the entrance near the Temple of Juno. A good choice because it avoids some back and forth on the fairly large site (we finished by the Museum). More the temple of Juno gives a good perspective on the area and allows you to walk along the walls dug graves. Site a must see

  • Amazing temple, and right next to the east parking lot. Sit on the east side, and you'll also get the best views of the countryside.
  • Everything great. It's free for under 18, 5 € for under 25, 10€ for the others. I recommend to visit at the sunset, for a great experience.
  • A walk back in time. Awesome.
  • Lovely and well maintained place. Only thing, use the toilet when you have the chance.
  • Nicely persevered.
