  • The façade of Santo Spirito, geometric and harsh, not prelude to the characteristics of the Interior, which is all a triumph of stuccoes apparently caused by Giacomo Serpotta, single or group scenes figures, cherubs, Angels and other religious achievements to capture the visitor's attention and literally; Serpotta are known especially Palermo, such as jobs in the oratorios of s. Lorenzo and s. Mentions or s. M Valverde, but those Agrigento, probably less visited, are delightful in their own right. To those who, at a time when Serpotta lived, they threw the defect of repetition, we say that it is a magnificent repetitiveness! Mutatis mutandis, I compare the work of the Serpotta, even here in Santo Spirito, the realizations of mudejar art I've admired in Andalusia, because in my opinion it is one of the highest levels at which you can push the creativity, imagination and the skill of an artist . Adjoining museums we visited only partially and without much enthusiasm, fresh memories of the way we were taken from the Church. The area around the Holy Spirit according to me is the most graceful of historic landscape.

  • Shown around by a nun who loved the place and wanted to share it. You can’t just wander in. They sell sweets as well that they make on site. It is possible to stay in the convent.  more »
  • To visit like other churches in the city. Each has its own charm. Beautiful façade and beautiful inside.

  • The Monastero Santo Spirito in Agrigento also called Badia Grande is located in the old part of the city. Beautiful art document Chiaramonte. founded in the 13th century with a rich dowry of the Countess Marchisia Perfolio wife of Frederick Chiaromonte. The Church is a stucco sculpture attributed to the sculptor Giacomo Serpotta Palermo all his works dated between 1704 and 1708. So In a very hot July day 2017 I managed to get to the monastery between narrow alleys, stairways and steep descents shows up at the end of this beautiful church defined outside Tuff fronted ... .... but it was closed! ... ... mah ... as usual my lucky star makes me follow a nun of the monastery (Cistercian) that he was going to meet a group of foreigners who had a guide and lay ahead to visit the Church. Then I with my usual facet ... I ask the Nun if we could aggregate us too ... and so ... we visited the monastery ... who really deserves it so much. Finished the visit we couldn't leave without having taken "the gem of this famous monastery ... the famous sweet COUSCOUS .... that is made from durum wheat and pistachios. crushed, mixed with almonds ... and dark chocolate drops ... ... in short a delight ... in addition to the almond paste sweets made by the Nuns. Advice? ... YOU CAN'T GET AWAY FROM AGRIGENTO MONASTERO SANTO SPIRITO AND NOT PASS. .. FROM ITS PASTRY ... ... ...

  • The Church is always open with inside some of the most beautiful works of the Serpotta. It was not possible to visit the Museum because closed on Saturdays and Sundays, the days when all it is easier to take a ride out to the rediscovery of our treasures
