Parco Faunistico La Torbiera, Agrate Conturbia

(3.9/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Faunist Park La Torbiera is a Biopark and consists of an area open to the public and a protected area for wildlife preservation. It was established in Agrate Conturbia, Piedmont, Italy in 1977 to preserve and study some animal species in danger of extinction.EnvironmentFaunistic Park La Torbiera is located in a border area between the Po Valley and the Prealps, characterized by a mild but damp climate, and plenty of small lakes. This is therefore a very favorable environment for the development of mires, which are born progressively by the accumulation of dead parts of vegetable on bottom of lakes. In wet soil, the oxygen deficiency prevents the oxidation processes and the complete decomposition of plants. The vegetable remains are transformed therefore only partially, becoming peat, and they collect on the bottom, making progressively decrease the depth of the basin. In this way, the plants of the shore which can be pushed towards the inside, reducing, until its demise, the surface of the water. The park, covering an area of 40 acres, provides shelter for many animal species. There are about 400 specimens relative to 130 wildlife species, mostly from the Palaearctic region.

  • Staff, price worthy, hidden Park and relatively small but full of surprises and many animals. I recommend everyone to go there!!

  • For a Sunday, serena and unusual if you in the area is more than recommended! The place is cute and not very demanding as walking, this time not all animals are easy to see, but those more "exotic" like Tiger and leopards are clearly visible. After the walk we stopped to eat at the restaurant inside, despite the reservations we had some inconvenience while there was a Scrum, but overall our Sunday was perfect!

  • And really, you did Africa when all is close and organized specifically for kids. No wonder the Italian here schools go to study biology. All explanations are designed for children and very entertaining.

  • It wasn't the first time I went to this Faunistic Park, but I've always been too little. Today I visited again with my parents and had a great time! The animals didn't seem very stressed aside from the tiger, the Amur leopard and the ocelot.. My personal favorite animal is the snow leopard because it's really playful and keeps you entertained when it's not sleeping :D Overall I totally recommend this place for a nice day in the company of these peculiar species!
  • Park dedicated to the conservation of the species and not the performance of the animals. For this reason, the primary purpose is not to make visible at any cost but visitors to take care of animals. The last time I was there the female Manul had recently given birth to two Cubs: event for this species is becoming increasingly rare. A place surrounded by greenery with several areas for the animals great for a walk, and for children. The price is higher than a normal zoo, but you have to remember that this is a natural park with for recovery of species at risk!

  • We stayed Sunday 1 may with our two kids. We spent an afternoon with a difference, after a morning spent indoors due to rain. Animals also appeared to want to take advantage of any pale rays of Sun that peeked from behind clouds. Well maintained park ... we did not expect to be able to see some animals so close without protection (cheetahs were very close and it seemed they could reach with a single bound). The children were able to observe many animals up close and were very pleased. I couldn't understand if they didn't come from the farm only because it was Sunday or to see if we wanted to have lunch (??? were the 14!) or if it always works that way ... I was expecting an official entrance to the Park from the gate we saw barred ...
