Sentiero degli dei (Path of the Gods), Agerola

(4.9/5 based on 1,800+ reviews on the web)
Take a hike through the mountains and enjoy breathtaking views of the coastline and the sea at Sentiero degli dei (Path of the Gods). The 8 km (5 mi) long trail marked with red and white stripes features scenic views of picturesque villages and waves crashing on the beaches. Take another 300 steps down to the beach and go for a swim, washing off the dust and dirt of the road as you splash. Bring plenty water with you, and start early in the morning to avoid the midday heat. For a truly authentic experience, buy the local mozzarella cheese from a shop at the entrance to the trail, take some bread, and stop for a picnic along the way. • This is the best hike we did in Italy - stunningly beautiful view of Amalfi coast. It took us a half day for the round trip from Ageola to Nocelle and then back to Ageola. The trail is well marked and...  more »
  • Great hike, effortless albeit a bit long. Defintely worth perform it from September to May/June. The trail is well maintained, but it's still a trail to be addressed with due caution. Starts in Bomerano Agerola from the town square (there is no signage from the bus stop) and ends in Nocelle in Positano. It takes about 3 hours to walk the hiking section. The trail grows in height, with short ups and downs; in walk through areas of the Amalfi coast that tourists marinari even can imagine. Houses, still inhabited, clinging to terraced slopes reachable only on foot or by mule, flocks of sheep and goats that are cared for in shelters under rocks as they did decades ago. Fantastic view of the cliffs of the coast with the view that extends up to Capri. The best way to deal with the hike is from Bomerano and arrive in Nocelle. To reach Bomerano to Positano should take a Sita bus to Amalfi and here change to another bus for Agerola (ask the driver to stop Bomerano). The timetable is available on the website of Sita and hung at various stops. On weekdays buses are quite frequent on Sundays and holidays. Once in Nocelle there are some alternatives: go down a long staircase up to the SS 163, take the paved road to the SS 163 (longer, but definitely less tiring) or take the bus to Positano in Nocelle. The latter solution is definitely the best: faster and less tiring (the excursion ends in Nocelle). The problem is finding the bus (not hanging at the stop and found a website that will provide) and understand the frequency especially in winter when there are few tourists around.
