We went down to visit the Woods after seeing the Castle. The mausoleum is easily accessible by a small path that leads down to the ruined house which is located on the left side of the road. Very simple path, suitable for everyone, but you should have comfortable shoes. Sin that is completely left to himself in complete neglect. However the structure is quite impressive inside the thick forest.

During the return from vacation on the Lake of Bolsena, we followed a recommendation from a local Lake ... went towards Torre Alfina to see the Castle and the mausoleum. Too bad the Castle wasn't open, but already you can observe from the outside jaw-dropping for its beauty and its status. From there, asking for information we took a path without directions and got off in "snow white" to see the famous tomb of Marquis Cahen. The trails are varied, but more or less all converge in front of the Gothic Tomb, beautiful and picturesque; the route takes about 30 min to just risalire...il beautiful is certainly get lost, to find themselves.

Visit Sunday, fortunately with the local guide. A wood out of the norm, wonderful! Advice for those wishing to visit it, shoes and especially driving, there are many paths without instructions and it's hard if you don't know know the place to find the right one. Do not recommend to those who have mobility problems or is very old.

  • The forest of Rocks is located in Torre Alfina, Acquapendente municipality: we are in the North of the province of Viterbo, on the border of three regions (Lazio, Tuscany and Umbria). The preservation of this wonderful, enchanted forest, untouched, the Marquis Edward Cahen, Jewish banker of Belgian origin, who in 1880 he bought the castle of Torre Alfina, including farms and Lands, including the Forest of Rocks. And the Marquis loved so much these woods to be build in the middle of this its a grave mausoleum, inside which now rests. This wood, as the name says, it is characterized by lava boulders covered with mosses and lichens and plants from the particular forms. This is a real enchanted forest, a natural monument of the Lazio region: the National Geographic describes him: "Rocks is not a forest. Simply enter below the turn somber, do a short walk among the great trunks centenarians to understand at once that here nature expresses an ancient and mysterious force ".

  • Woods to visit preferably with a route guide a little bumpy the forest is part of the Castle and both are for sale and is not maintained so it's relatively easy to find on the trails fallen trees but place to visit definitely
