  • A magical place where you can still enjoy a nature often untouched by man. A ridge emerged from the sea that fascinates and makes us aware of good fortune to live in Sicily

  • From Piazza del Duomo di Acireale, along via Romeo, you reach the top edge of the Timpa. From that point a stepped-down to the sea. The descent and ascent, is a bit challenging being sloped but the scenery is definitely worth the effort you need to follow it.

  • I absolutely recommend to tread the path of Plain which is part of the reserve. You can comfortably reach from Acireale and walk across the road with a convenient pedestrian bridge or Park on the same highway. From there the Trail opens, the ancient road leading from the city to the village of Santa Maria La Scala. The view is wonderful, the walk is not too strenuous and is suitable for the whole family but must be made of the day because the place has no artificial lights. Route all the way to down in the village of Santa Maria La Scala there are many rooms, of various types, in which you can eat both lunch and dinner. Legambiente offers information and guidance on accessible area of the reserve. Actually the reserve has other sloppy trails and not valued. It's a wonderful venue impractical that deserves much attention. In any case worth a splurge.

  • it's a steep walk but it's worth it to have a nice point of view on the coast and the town
  • Lovely place. Fantastic sea. Around you eat well.

  • The reserve runs along the SS114 and insists in an area that has remained intact since inaccessible and difficult to access. Offers a fascinating show, overlooking the Ionian Sea coast with a view stretching from Mount Etna, to the coasts of Calabria. Accessed comfortably from the hamlet of Santa Maria delle Grazie and Santa Maria La Scala where I suggest a walk on steep stairway which embraces a wonderful panoramic view.

  • Coming down to Santa Maria Della Scala, is not a nice place to stay. The sea is dirty and the bathroom is not advisable. At most you can visit for some pictures suggestive at Marina, nothing more.

  • Services to users totally absent, often dirty, with guaranteed cleaning often only by volunteers. Easily accessible from the city centre on foot. Breathtaking view.
