Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise is an Italian national park founded in 1922. The majority of the park is located in the Abruzzo region though it is not constrained by regional boundaries and also includes territory in Lazio and Molise. The park headquarters are in Pescasseroli in the Province of L'Aquila. The park currently includes 496.80km2.
The oldest in the Apennines, and the Italy's second declared park, with an important role in the preservation of species such as the Italian wolf, Abruzzo chamois and Marsican brown bear, the protected area is around two thirds beech forest though many other trees grow in the area including the silver birch and black and mountain pines. Other characteristic fauna of the park are roe deer, wild boar and the white-backed woodpecker.

  • This corner of paradise that still too many disdain, too bad ! Yet fauna and flora here are among the most diverse in Italy and the idea even just the idea that we can meet with a family of bears, well. makes you feel mountain adrenaline. Nice really nice

  • It's a very rich and poorly managed area. They have the only population in the world of Marsican bear and instead of really investing, for the protection of this animal, destined to disappear, you turn your thumbs. The bear, like wolves and many other animals, is an asset to the territory and its inhabitants, move and do something, instead of being paralyzed by your political choices and short-sightedness. And the rangers make a move (or find the money to pay them), which inside the park everyone does as he pleases, tourist, inhabitant or naturalist, be it. Ps. The park is not the zoo.

  • Luckily the train leading to the start of the trails was full and we had to wait for the next free ride after 50 minutes. So we decided to walk up about 2.8 km. But I repeat it was lucky because we enjoyed the naturalistic spectacle to the fullest. At the beginning of the trails we chose to make the easiest trail (G5) that between round trip took a time of 20 minutes. We could see two small waterfalls. At the beginning of the trails there are two bars with benches to be able to consume something. On the way back we chose to return with the train which cost .2 for adults and .1 per child. Parking is added to this expense by a car park of 4 euros. In case you want to go by carriage with the horses, I recommend booking the ride before starting the route since, going along the dirt road, there is no line. The phone numbers can be found in the photo I sent. The kids had a great time and it would have been nice to go back to the park even on different days to make you feel different. I recommend it! For children it is advisable to bring a sweatshirt as going down the trails is a bit damp.

  • What to say about it? It's simply the place I suppose to find the heaven. I can share a couple of pics but guys, trust me, it's not enough to describe the place. You have to visit it.
  • If you don't read or speak Italian it's super difficult to figure anything out but it was beautiful
  • This is a predominantly limestone area and as would be expected the Alpine flora are exceptional. There is a multitude of orchid species and carpets of all the familiar Alpine flowers. If the sun is out butterflies and many other insects are numerous, but thankfully no problem with any biting insects. If you're lucky you may have sightings of wild boar, wolf and bear. Although a skiing area, there are few signs of the ugly scarring that are common in many other mountain areas.
  • Beautiful yet too busy
  • Beautiful place to visit!
