  • Ancient castle Visconteo which saw the passage of much of the Visconti-Sforza dynasty, with its mass dominates the entrance to the historic town centre. Transformed into municipal library not present more sumptuous interiors of centuries but its rooms you can walk through and Ducal still discover the ancient marble frescos and graffiti left by prisoners nobles in the attic. Reached recently with dilapidated appearance forms, preserves a Majesty that is best expressed in its facades and square courtyard, which is also a treasure trove of fragments of fresco on which dominates the Visconti's motto: a bon droit ... rightly so. Rightfully should be visited for an enjoyable experience. Empty rooms, but filled by the memory of the courtiers and Dukes who have inhabited. Contact the local Pro Loco that will help you discover their stories, their fantasies, the gossip of the Court and the beauty of this manor.

  • Quadrangular Castle built between 1381 and rearranged by Filippo Maria Visconti in 1438. Located in the square is one of the most important historical buildings of the city and also home of the current municipal library. Absolutely worth visiting.

  • Gian Galeazzo Sforza began construction of the Castle from 1381 and Filippo Maria Visconti the blacks ' from 1438. The Visconti Castle, therefore, becomes today a must for those in the area, only to wander through the streets of the old town, which has become a limited traffic zone. The castle is bare of furnishings and most of the original frescoes. Remain some Renaissance mullioned Windows and frescoes which confirm the structure more like a summer home not a medieval fortress. Later the castle was used as a private residence until 1865, when the owners donated to the city to be used and used initially at school and then at home to some local associations and the territory abbiatense. Today it is home to a large Council Hall and the public library, used by many abbiatensi, after the restoration in 1995. With the restoration were also recovered ancient frescoes and graffiti. Today it also uses the underground structure, also recovered, for exhibitions and events. A curiosity: it is still possible to admire on the East Wing of the top floor of the Castle, the graffiti of the prisoners who were locked up during the period when this area was designed as a prison. You can visit the castle with guided tours, organized by the pro loco Association. Recommended visit species on a sunny day.

  • Beautiful Visconti Castle, located in the central position in Pavia! This mediaval castle (1360) is a must see when visiting Pavia! I had a chance to visit it during the little beer festival so the atmosphere was really great! We enjoyed nice music and great local food and beers, while enjoying magnificent interior courtyard of the castle! Recommended!
