A large freshwater lake situated on a northern part of the Israeli-Jordanian border, Sea of Galilee offers visitors scenic hiking, swimming, and boating opportunities. Featured prominently in ancient Jewish and Christian scripture, the sea served as the site of much of Jesus Christ's ministry in the Gospels. Today the lake provides a source of fresh water to Israeli homes and attracts flocks of visitors to its shores. Taste fresh fish at restaurants on the lake's edge, walk along the pier in Tiberias, or board a boat for a tour from the water.
