  • Bethsaida is located north of the Lake of Tiberias. Access is by a park with admission fees (so it is recommended to visit the site at the same time to a picnic in the park for example). The site archaeological itself may disappoint if you go without a guide because it is difficult to understand the interest and what we see. But Bethsaida is important in the Bible and the New Testament. In the Bible it is mentioned that Absalom, after killing his brothers, flees to Geshur, capital of the Kingdom was his mother. Geshur is Bethsaida. And in the New Testament, three followers of Jesus are from Beitsaida, which, at the time, was on the shores of the Lake of Tiberias (the site is now located more off due to seismic movements that changed the topography). So Bethsaida offers both ruins of Biblical times and that of Jesus. But still, better if go with a tourist guide.
