White City, Tel Aviv

3.7
#2 of 16 in Historic Sites in Tel Aviv
A World Heritage Site, White City contains thousands of International and Bauhaus Style buildings. After the rise of the Nazi Party in the 1930s, many Jewish architects from the Bauhaus art school immigrated to the region and designed buildings for the new city, which now contains more structures built in this style than any other urban center in the world. Take a guided tour or explore the town on your own to encounter one of these buildings on every corner, some well preserved and some scheduled for complete restoration. Where to stay in Tel Aviv

Dedicated to beach culture, Tel Aviv features many mid-range hotels facing the sea. Look for accommodations here if you plan to spend much of your time in or near the water. For easier access to top cultural attractions, opt for boutique establishments in the southern section of the city center, where you'll also find numerous restaurants and cafes. Alternatively, stylish options in Jaffa (the port area) provide access to the city's Arab heritage and a chance to discover a vibrant street life and numerous markets.
