Clock Tower, Tel Aviv

3.9
Watching over the northern entrance of the ancient town of Jaffa, Clock Tower remains as a testament to the Ottoman period. Constructed as one of seven in Palestine to honor the silver jubilee of the reign of Sultan And al-Hamid II, the tower was completed in 1903. Approach the limestone landmark from across its busy thoroughfare, noting the commemorative plaque dedicated to the memory of Israelis killed in the First Arab-Israeli War. • Almost automatically you will pass during the visit in old Jaffa here. For us (and all other tourists!) the huge Christmas tree next to it ;-)

  • This is where we met our tour group. I can highly recommend the "free" walking tours. Our guide was interesting and deserved the 50 sheckel tip x 2 of us that we paid him. The clock tower is a landmark.
  • interesting place. little crowded but have to be seen. cozy places with delicious local fooda
  • Wonderful mix of old and new. You can pick up taxis here too
  • I live close to this beautiful clock square, for me it is a combination of the past with the present, the peace, the prosperity and the encounter between Arab and Jewish citizens, I have done a number of paintings of the clock tower and the beautiful oriental construction around
  • Filthy disgusting dirty area. Some of the food stores-restaurants look like epidemic carriers. It is pity such touristic site looks like a 3rd world.

Where to stay in Tel Aviv

Dedicated to beach culture, Tel Aviv features many mid-range hotels facing the sea. Look for accommodations here if you plan to spend much of your time in or near the water. For easier access to top cultural attractions, opt for boutique establishments in the southern section of the city center, where you'll also find numerous restaurants and cafes. Alternatively, stylish options in Jaffa (the port area) provide access to the city's Arab heritage and a chance to discover a vibrant street life and numerous markets.
